Christ the Lord is Risen

Benjamin Dorn

Suffered He in anguish
Broken, battered, bruised
Crucified by men, the
Way, the Life, the Truth

Rejected by His own
A murd'rer freed that He would die
Mocked by all who praised Him
As they pass Him by

But Christ the Lord is risen
Risen on this day
Come all Christians now and gather
to sing our Savior's praise
Christ the Lord is risen
Risen Lord to reign
We His servants fall upon our knees
He's triumphed o'er the grave

Listen as they scourge Him
Lashes all along His spine
Glass and bone shards rend
Flesh from the divine

Cruel-wrought crown of thorns as
Death is granted Christ the Lord
Scarlet robe torn off Him
He staggers to the Skull

But Christ the Lord is risen
Risen on this day
Come all Christians now and gather
to sing our Savior's praise
Christ the Lord is risen
Risen Lord to reign
We His servants fall upon our knees
He's triumphed o'er the grave

Earth is torn asunder
Men wholly reject the light
Nature loathe to witness
Shrouds itself with night

Severed from the Father
Purest fury's weight to bear
The Son's love freely offered
To those who nailed Him there

His the death that we earned
His the curse we bore
By His death and resurrection are
We free forevermore
By His scars are we healed
Ransomed by His wounds
And the seal of our salvation is
The barren, empty tomb

Christ the Lord is risen
Risen on this day
Come all Christians now and gather
to sing our Savior's praise
Christ the Lord is risen
Risen Lord to reign
We His servants fall upon our knees
He's triumphed o'er the grave
